This agent acts by competitively inhibiting carbohydrate-digesting enzymes found in the small intestine, effectively delaying glucose absorption and decreasing post-prandial hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia.

But, most importantly, it contains the unique active enzyme 1-deoxynojirimycin (DNJ) that mimics sugar and tricks the body into letting sugar and starch pass through the intestines without being broken down to absorbable calories in the form of glucose.
